Hospitality
Sheila Landry, Committee Chair
Food provided by Second Harvest/Lutheran Social Services and donations of food from the congregation are made available to those in need between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. most Fridays.

Bread and pastries are provided by Waste Not Want Not.

Contributions of peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce and non-perishable food items from Calvary’s congregation and friends are added to the Food Pantry, and are always needed.

Calvary’s kitchen is also the source of a hot lunch for day laborers at Labor Ready.

The Children's Home
Outreach
Betty Koon, Committee Chair
The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home was established in Enterprise, Fla., in 1908.

The Florida Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South began this institution by declaring, “Here we propose, by the help of God and the cooperation of all good people, to found a noble Christian institution for the relief, education and training of destitute, fatherless and motherless children, who may look to us for help.” For 100 years this has been the guiding principle of the Children’s Home.

Calvary is a strong supporter of the Children’s Home, collecting toys and clothing at Christmas, school supplies in September, and taking special collections throughout the year to support the facility’s day-to-day operation.

Nursing Home Visitation
Calvary’s Love Bugs visit residents of a local nursing home, Heartland on Wells Road, on the third Saturday of the month. The visit typically involves engaging residents in a craft activity, with the purpose of offering a smile, a word of encouragement and a bright spot in the day for the frail and elderly.

At Easter and Christmas, the Love Bugs deliver hand-made gifts to all the residents of the
long-term care and rehabilitation sections of the nursing facility.

Beth Locke coordinates this outreach ministry, and she invites you to join the Love Bugs for
a blessing you won’t soon forget.

Children’s Ministry
Diane Rood, Ministry Chair
Calvary’s growing Children’s Ministry includes oversight of the nursery, Sunday school classes, Vacation Bible School, Easter Egg Hunt and various children’s activities at our seasonal festivals and Trunk or Treat at Halloween.

Calvary staff and volunteers receive Children and Youth Protection training, creating a safe protected environment for children and youth.

Youth Ministry
Kelley Prentice
Calvary’s youth meet 5 to 6:30 p. m. Wednesdays. The youth start off with dinner and then have a lesson, discussions and activities designed to help them grow together in their Christian walk. Throughout the year, special activities are planned – sometimes an out-of-town ski trip and sometimes an afternoon at Adventure Landing.

Evangelism
Joe Malone
The Evangelism Committee considers the world a mission field, including the immediate neighborhood around the church building. Welcoming and inviting our neighbors to join us may mean passing out invitations, or it may mean opening up the property for activities where our neighbors are welcome. Our spring and fall festivals are examples. Trunk or Treat is an especially popular event that draws children and their parents.
